What is SKIT?

WHO WE ARE

Southern Kentucky Independent Theatre (SKIT) is a subsidiary (along with JMAM) of The Cadiz Community Arts Center which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community arts center. SKIT is a volunteer community theater with no paid positions.  We produce one or two plays each year and focus on including everyone who has an interest in the theater.

Location

As a branch of the Cadiz Community Arts Center, SKIT’s office is the same as that of the art museum.  SKIT has no permanent home performance space, therefore, we improvise with whatever space we can find.  Often we use the Trigg County High School Little Theater for summer productions.  The annual “Dining with the Dearly Departed” performances are held outdoors in a tent.  We have even been know to make use of an empty church building.  Sometimes rehearsals are held in the education department of the Janice Mason Art Museum building.

Committee

The SKIT committee functions as the producer of all productions.  The committee accepts suggestions for potential productions and evaluates and selects plays suitable for the available talent, budget, and community interest.  The SKIT committee selects a director for each production and the committee assists the director in successfully accomplishing each task related to the production.  The committee members are:

Portia Aldridge
Bryan Blaylock
Kim Fortner
Paul Fourshee
Pam Goolsby
Wayne Goolsby
Pat Puckett
