Ray Kleinhelter, of Louisville, KY – In Ray’s own words: “I am predominantly a landscape painter, and by this point in my life I have done hundreds of drawings and paintings of the Ohio, and yet I constantly find new inspiration in its shapes and colors. I study landscape by drawing and painting outside, often aboard my boat. This activity is crucial to keeping fresh ideas and variations coming into the studio, where I make new pieces, inspired by the outdoor work. By bringing the chaos of working outside into the controlled environment of the studio I get to be both analytical and impulsive on a larger scale and with different media.”
